Badges of Entrepreneurial Excellence

The Badges of Entrepreneurial Excellence program recognizes the achievements of Missouri S&T students beyond the classroom. The badges are an iconic celebration of participation in experiences designed to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

Entrepreneurship is broader than starting a new business, it’s a mindset of creating value no matter where you are.

Based on the KEEN framework for developing an entrepreneurial mindset, the Badges of Entrepreneurial Excellence encourage curiosity, connections, and creating value.

Each of the five badges represents a core value essential to the entrepreneurial mindset of today’s dynamic, rapidly evolving world.

Social responsibility recognizes the imperative for any approach to add value, to create a positive impact, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Earn badges

We aim to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurial-minded individuals and to foster a culture of innovation and excellence. All Missouri S&T students are invited to participate by joining the trailblazers and visionaries who are shaping the future with their passion, ingenuity, and determination.

Single badge

A student who fulfills the requirements for a badge will receive:

  • Digital badge to share on LinkedIn.
  • Physical badge of the completed focus area.
  • Wording for use in resumes and cover letters.
  • Invitation to the Badges of Entrepreneurial Excellence dinner, which will include S&T Alumni, hosted each semester.
  • A portfolio report verifying the events and activities the student participated in for that badge.

All five badges

A student who completes all five badges will receive:

  • Badges of Entrepreneurial Excellence apparel item.
  • Stole for graduation.
  • Certificate of completion (both printed and digital).
  • Letter of recommendation regarding skills and experiences participated in through the program.

Requirements

Students are required to complete these elements for each badge topic area to receive that badge:

Attend three speaker sessions.

Can be hosted by Kummer Student Programs or any department on or off campus so long as the topic is related to the badge.

Attend a summit.

This is a two-hour intensive workshop hosted by Kummer Student Programs.

Participate in an experience outside the classroom for each area:

Leadership — Hold an executive officer position in an official student organization or participate in leadership training that lasts for at least two hours or complete a Kummer Colloquium for Leadership.

Design and Build — Participate in the Miner Creativity Challenge or 24-hour Campus Impact Challenge or maintain active membership of a design team or complete a Kummer Colloquium for Design and Build.

Research — Participate in OURE, or two Micro Grand Challenges or complete a Kummer Colloquium for Research.

Entrepreneurship — Participate in the S&T Startup Challenge or complete a Kummer Colloquium for Entrepreneurship.

Social Responsibility — Participate in 20 hours of community service or complete a Kummer Colloquium for Social Responsibility.

Reflect on your experience.

Submit a reflection of the badge requirements after meeting all other requirements of the badge.
