S&T undergraduate students are invited to compete in the fall 2024 Micro Grand Challenge with Dr. Donald C. Wunsch II on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1–5 p.m.
Dr. Wunsch, director of the Kummer Institute Center for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems at Missouri S&T, will give students a briefing of the challenges of "Reverse Engineering the Brain: Shortcomings of Artificial Intelligence". Students will then be broken up into teams and given three hours to further investigate a failure of an AI platform, the possible causes for the failure, and propose research as well as next steps to resolve the failure. Students will then present their findings.
The Micro Grand Challenge is modeled after the international grand challenges event and provides students the opportunity to leverage creativity and research, while working towards solving for the future.
The winning student team will split a $500 scholarship
2nd place team splits a $200 scholarship and 3rd place team splits a $100 scholarship
