1. Submit your PhD application to Missouri S&T. These elements of your PhD application will be reviewed by the Kummer I&E Fellowship selection commitee:

  • CV/Resume
  • Transcripts (unofficial or official)

If you have applied already to the doctoral program or are a newly admitted incoming doctoral student and want to update any of your documents please contact enrollment@mst.edu. 

2. Complete a Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellowship Program application.  You will find a link to the application on the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellows program website. 

The elements of the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellowship application include: 

  • Two (2) Essays - one on your research interests, one on your plans after completing a PhD
  • Two (2) Reccomendation letters specific to your application to the Kummer I&E Fellowship. These letters can be from faculty at S&T, faculty outside of S&T, and/or Supervisors

Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellows Profile 

The ideal candidate should possess remarkable motivation and passion for their field of study, with a desire to make significant contributions to their profession and to society. A candidate also should recognize the benefits of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit to society, and will consider opportunities to commercialize their research upon graduation. In addition to a strong academic record, the candidate should possess leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, and demonstrate the attributes of successful graduate researchers, including intellectual curiosity, tenacity, energy, and a collaborative mindset.
